Pemberton Greenish wins London Enfranchisement Solicitor of the Year Award for the second year in succession

Monday 24 May 2010, Chelsea, London – Pemberton Greenish has won News on the Block’s London Enfranchisement Solicitor of the Year Award for the second year running.

The Enfranchisement and Right to Manage Awards 2010 recognise excellence and professionalism of specialists in the residential property industry. The Judges included industry heavyweights such as Georgiana Hibberd of the RICS, Bob Smytherman, Chairman of the Federation of Private Residents’ Associations and Peter Rodd, Chairman of the Law Society’s Property Section.

Open to all solicitors acting for freeholders and leaseholders in an enfranchisement related capacity, Pemberton Greenish was able to demonstrate once again the highest possible standard of technical excellence and client care. With a client base of the major Landed Estates including the Cadogan, Crown, Ilchester, Sir Richard Sutton, Portman, Sloane Stanley, Eyre, John Lyon and Brompton Estates Pemberton Greenish’s expertise is recognised by clients and peers alike.

We are proud to have been pivotal to the development of the law in this area over many years acting in numerous, widely reported cases including the leading decisions of Earl Cadogan v Sportelli in the House of Lords; Nailrile Ltd v Cadogan in the Lands Tribunal and Howard de Walden Estates Ltd v Aggio, again the House of Lords.

The enfranchisement team is led by the senior partner of the firm, Damian Greenish, co-author of Hague on Leasehold Enfranchisement, the recognised leading textbook on the subject. The fifth edition was published at the end of 2009 and its Foreword, provided by Lord Neuberger, Master of the Rolls, notes the continued "very high standards" of the textbook and “the enormous increase in scope and complexity of the legislation” in the past ten years.

Damian regularly presents and writes on enfranchisement and residential landlord and tenant law and regularly chairs the annual LEASE Conference. In 2010 he was appointed chairman of the Association of Leasehold Practitioners (ALEP).

Damian says of winning the award: "We are delighted to have won this prestigious award for the second time. I would like to thank the judges, our clients and the enfranchisement team at Pemberton Greenish for their contribution to our success."
