Dying without a will is a very bad idea – particularly if your family circumstances are complicated whether because of subsequent marriages or strained relationships.  Intestacy can give some surprising results including complications over where a surviving spouse might live, and unwanted tax charges.   Burying your head in the sand and trusting to your beneficiaries to sort it out once you are gone is reckless to say the least.
