A move with the times
For a firm with 235 years of history (we have been a continuing partnership since 1775) we have not moved around much. In fact, we have probably changed our name more often than we have physically moved our place of business.
We started life in Hatton Gardens but in 1817 moved to Lincoln's Inn Fields. We were there for the next 142 years before moving to Gray's Inn in 1959. The move from the Inns to Chelsea in 1975 was radical but proved to be extremely successful. Now after 35 years at 45 Pont Street, we have made the decision to move again.
Needless to say, we have been planning the move for a long time. We have enormous attachment to 45 Pont Street but we have outgrown it and we need to move on. Pemberton Greenish continues to grow and a new home had to have room for the expansion towards which we are working.
Remaining in the heart of Chelsea is important to us because it is the home of so many of our clients. We were delighted therefore to find new premises at 45 Cadogan Gardens.
The location may not be so different but the nature of the building certainly is. Our new office is a wonderful development by the Cadogan Estate. Behind the retained 19th century façade of what were previously the offices of Peter Jones, Cadogan have created 21st century office accommodation of the very highest standard. It is a clear reflection of the firm that we have become and an unambiguous statement for how we see the future of the practice.
As of 15th March 2010 we are installed in our new home. The move itself, which took place over the previous two weeks, went very smoothly. I would like to thank all the people involved for their hard work and to express my gratitude for all the extra hours they worked whilst continuing to look after our clients with their usual dedication.
Our clients will continue to enjoy the friendly, efficient service from excellent lawyers that they expect and deserve. I very much hope that over the coming weeks and months you will not only come to visit us in our new home but when you do you will see just how the firm is meeting the challenges of providing the best class of legal services in the 21st century.
